COMPANY: Hella boss JOB TYPE: Full-time INDUSTRY: Accounting & Finance SALARY: USD 300 DESCRIPTION: Location: Harare / Zimbabwe Department: Finance & Accounting Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced Accountant to join our team in Zimbabwe. The ideal candidate will manage daily financial operations, maintain accurate bookkeeping records, oversee accounts payable and receivable, and ensure full compliance with ZIMRA tax regulations and local financial standards. Key Responsibilities Daily Financial Operations: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, maintain the general ledger, process journal entries, and perform regular bank and cash reconciliations. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, manage client billings, track incoming payments, and actively manage aging reports and collections. Tax & Statutory Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation, filing, and timely remittance of local statutory obligations including PAYE, VAT, Corporate Tax, and withholding taxes via the ZIMRA portal. Payroll Processing: Manage monthly payroll processing, compute statutory deductions (NSSA, ZIMDEF), and handle employee expense claims. Financial Reporting: Assist management in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts. Audit Support: Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for internal and external audits. Internal Controls: Monitor and enforce financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and improve operational efficiency. Requirements & Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Progress toward or completion of professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIS, CIMA, CA Zimbabwe) is a strong advantage. Experience: Minimum of 2 to 4 years of proven accounting experience in a commercial environment. Technical Proficiencies: Strong working knowledge of local Zimbabwean tax laws and ZIMRA compliance procedures (VAT, PAYE, QPDs). Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, Belina Payroll, or ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Skills: High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail. RESPONSIBILITIES: Key Responsibilities Daily Bookkeeping & General Ledger Management Maintain and update the general ledger accurately on a daily basis. Process journal entries, prepayments, and accruals. Perform daily and monthly bank, cash, and mobile money (e.g., EcoCash) reconciliations to ensure zero discrepancies. ZIMRA Tax Compliance & Statutory Filings Ensure full compliance with Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) regulations. Accurately compute and file monthly and periodic returns, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and Withholding Tax. Manage Quarterly Payment Dates (QPDs) for corporate income tax in coordination with management. Payroll & Statutory Contributions Process monthly payroll accurately and on time using local payroll software (e.g., Belina). Handle statutory deductions and remittances for NSSA, NEC, and ZIMDEF. Manage employee benefit deductions, loan tracking, and payroll-related queries. Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR) Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including verifying vendor invoices, matching purchase orders, and processing timely payments. Oversee accounts receivable, issue client invoices, track aging reports, and follow up proactively on overdue customer balances. Monitor cash flow trends to ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity for daily operations. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare monthly management accounts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts. Analyze budget variances and report financial anomalies or cost-saving opportunities to management. Audit Support & Internal Controls Prepare comprehensive audit schedules, reconciliation files, and supporting documentation for internal and external auditors. Adhere to and enforce internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications & Requirements Education & Professional Certifications Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Corporate Governance, or a related field. Professional Standing: Progress toward or complete qualification with a recognized professional body (e.g., ACCA, CIS, CIMA, or CA Zimbabwe) is strongly preferred.
